For some reason in today's society many feel there is no place for romance. We say to ourselves "Enough with the flowery words and acts of chivalry". Truth is, our desire to have passion in our lives is a long way from gone. We all want to be reminded of how important we are to that one person in our lives who means everything to us. Secretly, we need that someone to go to the end of the world and back simply to please us. And what's wrong with that? Isn't it the way of the universe to search and find that individual who completes us? Isn't it our nature to not give up until we find the one who will protect us and move mountains for us? Isn't it our right to be bound to that one person who can press their lips against the one spot that sends chills down our spine to tingle in the parts of us we hide from the world? I'm going to say hell yes! Romance is what keeps us going. It's what makes us dream and have faith that there is someone out there for everyone. It's what gives widows and widowers hope that they are not destined to be alone. I admit it, I'm a hopelessly, incurable romantic. I am now and I have been for as long as I can remember. That's why I write love stories. The beauty of living in today's world is that amidst all the chaos, politics, global warming and social media love and romance does still exist. In my books my characters find love where and when they least expect it. And, like the real world, when they are faced with the hardships of their everyday lives they are enlightened the the fact that no matter how screwed up life can be, all they want to do is give that one person whatever they can to give them peace. Unselfish, they sacrifice their own comfort in order to assure the others happiness. All they want in return to to be held in that person's arms. To be immersed in the warmth and comfort of their embrace. To feel their heartbeat in unison with their own. That's romance, my friends. That's love in it's purest form and without it what would we have to look forward to? You want it. Some of us even crave it. All of us look to our imagination to sweep us off our feet and give us chills that finish at our toes. That blissful, burning desire of passion is where's it's at and always has been. Maybe we have given it a different name but it's still there. And if you're anything like me, it will be there for the rest of your life. Danielle Sebastian Author of Phrasing, the novel
